More About Us
Our mission is to provide college students a safe, simple, and affordable way to rent rooms, rent out rooms, and find roommates.
Find a Room
We wanted to enable students to find a room in their college town, based on all of their criteria.
Sell a Room
We wanted to give students the resources and platform to list their room quickly and efficiently.
We thought that it was important that new tenants not only matched with the house, but also matched with the roommates.
The entire transaction process should be safe and secure. You probably don't know the other party, so we use Stripe to securely transfer funds.
Both parties will sign an agreement, stating that they will fill their respective duties per their roles. This provides an additional layer to prevent foul play.
SubletU was founded in 2019 by Josh Arnold and Landon Rogers, who were both students at Florida State University while launching the company. Josh originally came up with the idea when he ran into the problem of subleasing of his apartment for a summer, and wasn't able to find an effective platform to list his sublet on. After joining the Jim Moran Institute for Entrepreneurship at FSU, he decided to use the idea for the year-long project assigned during the primary course of the Commercial Entrepreneurship major. The project was intended to give the students of the program the experience of creating their own business. After Josh had pitched the idea to the cohort, Landon joined him on his project and began programming the website, while Josh sent out surveys and researched the market that SubletU was trying to accomodate. However, almost immediately the project became a real life business for them, as they spent many hours a day working on SubletU, until launching in early 2019.
Josh is a founding member of SubletU and is from McLean, VA. He is currently finishing up his B.S. in Commercial Entrepreneurship at Florida State University.
